Affordable Housing
Access to affordable housing is an ongoing crisis in our region and across the country. It’s escalated for decades and now it’s been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Congress needs to find ways to assist local governments in providing adequate affordable housing. That means bringing back federal funding to invest in subsidized housing, revitalizing our aging housing stock, and providing incentives to build additional units. I also support a substantive Low Income Housing Tax Credit to help take some of the burden off of those struggling the most. Our communities and local industries grow when people can afford to live here.
